Unique Kid's Playroom Design Ideas
Playtime is all about being creative, using imagination and having tons of fun, so it's important to set-up a play space that encourages all of that! Every home, no matter how small, can have a playroom that will add fun to a child's day. Below you'll read some unique ways to design a great play space that will satisfy all of your child's needs for fun, creativity, relaxation and play dates with friends.
Design Tips for Small Playrooms
What I love about this playroom is that the designer was able to fit tons of stuff into a very small space with some creative maneuvering. This room has a drop down table attached to the left wall, so a child has a table for doing arts and crafts, puzzles, reading etc, but when it's time for more active play the table can fold down and the kids chairs can be moved aside to open up that part of the room. The large bookcase on the far end offers tons of storage shelves for holding books and toys and this will encourage a child to clean up the small space after playtime. On the right wall there's a kitchen play set that will provide countless hours of fun for a child and her friends. This small playroom offers big fun for any kid! |
Playroom Design Ideas for More Active Kids
This playroom was set-up to encourage lots of active play. There's a soft activity mat that takes up most of the floor to encourage a child to roll, jump, dance and get active during playtime. This play space also incorporates a play kitchen, kids table and chair set and storage shelves for keeping toys in order. Imagine the fun your child will have in a playroom like this one! |
Play Space that Has Convenience for Mom Too
I adore the fact that this playroom incorporates convenience items for mom such as a comfy nursery glider and changing table. I also love the fact that there's a bookcase in the room that juts out away from the wall leaving the back and front of the bookcase open. This family added a magnet board onto the back of the bookcase, so that one side of the bookcase offers storage space and the other provides a fun play spot for a child. That's a brilliant use of kids furniture! |
Playroom Design Using Walls in Creative Ways
The final playroom incorporates a man-made chalkboard that was painted onto the wall using cheap chalkboard paint. This is such a great way to use wall space to add fun to the room. They hung a simple chalk holder below to keep supplies in easy reach. Why not paint an entire wall in chalkboard paint, so a child has a huge canvas to work with and friends or siblings can also join in the fun! |
A Few Other Great Design Tips for a Playspace
Adding kid-size furniture, plus a kids bed tent to the space will finish off the room perfectly. After a hard day of playing kids can get tired and cranky, so instead of your child coming to you and whining about how tired he is, give him his very own kid-size chair where he can relax. Better yet, add a bed tent to the play space and he can use it for play and for naps!
